Another early start for the travelling Hurricanes players and supporters as the 2nd round of the EBFA U13 Cup took us to a scenic Windsor to play Div 2 side Windsor youth merlins Hurricanes. But the players didn’t disappoint, a tricky first 20 mins saw Windsor gain plenty of possession but the solid back four from Laurel Park held firm. We soon got to grips with the long grass and bare patches and began to dominate the play with some impressive counter attacking play. A spell of corners eventually resulting in a goal for Jayden.
Halftime arrived with Laurel taking a well deserved 1-0 lead.
Second half saw Laurel start strongly and a well worked free kick routine resulted in a second goal. Tommy floating a ball into the 18 yard box and Harry H attacking the cross and powerfully heading past the keeper.
Within a minute of taking a two goal lead we gave away a penalty only for the Windsor player to put his shot wide of Kane in goal but also wide of the post.
Shortly after Laurel got a third goal with a well taken strike from Tommy on the edge of the area.
A really good all round team performance from all the boys with excellent counter attacking football, smart in possession and dangerous crosses all match.
Man of the match going to the strong and steady Kane in goal.
Round 3 here we come.
